VASCO: A joint review meeting, to assess the water and electricity supply in Vasco in view of upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi, was held at Ravindra Bhavan, Baina, on Monday.
Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, Mormugao Municipal Council councillors, PWD, Electricity Department, Health officials and others were present.
Speaking to the media persons after the meeting, Almeida said, “The review meeting was held to assess the water and power situation. A meeting with the local police will be held on Tuesday.”
On the spike in the Dengue cases in the port town, he said that he would convene a meeting with the stakeholders soon.
On power supply issue, Almeida said, “The underground cabling work in Baina, which is on, will be completed within a fortnight.”
With regards to water supply, Almeida said, “There is enough storage at Ram Mandir, New Vaddem and Gomantak.”
On encroachments in the vegetable market, Almeida said encroachments should be cleared and the violators must be fined.
Dr Rashmi Khandeparkar said, “All must keep their surroundings clean only then dengue cases will decrease.”
PWD Assistant Engineer Naresh said, “Since 2013 the proposals related water supply have been completed. There are no pending water supply-related works in the past seven years. Most works have been passed and executed.”
Electricity Department Assistant Engineer Sanjeev Mhalshekar said, “Considering the upcoming Chaturthi, all the power supply-related works have been taken up by arranging power shutdowns. There won’t be any problem related to power supply.”
