PORVORIM: Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) on Monday demanded the State Government should install CCTV cameras in schools across Goa, which would ensure safety for students.
Speaking during the discussions on demands that also included education, Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo and Poriem MLA Deviya Rane pointed out alleged reports of some unfortunate incidents and urged the government to consider installing CCTV cameras in schools.
“Unwanted incidents are reported in the schools. CCTV cameras will help in a big way in preventing such incidents,” Delilah Lobo said.
Deviya Rane said that CCTV surveillance is of utmost importance as reports of “unwanted activities” were emerging.
“There is a need to have CCTV surveillance in all our schools. Whether they are primary schools or government high schools CCTV cameras are of utmost importance. Everybody speaks about so many activities around schools, so untoward incidents shouldn’t happen. So, for the safety of our children, the government should put in place CCTV surveillance,” she said.
