VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Leo Rodrigues was unanimously elected Chairman of the Vasco Carnival Committee on Monday.
After the meeting, Rodrigues said that the Carnival floats parade in Vasco will be held on February 20. The Committee is trying to have a plastic-free Carnival this year and will abstain from using firecrackers so that Vasco Carnival can also be pollution-free.
Rodrigues said that the committee will request the State government to enhance the funds for the festival from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh this year in view of rising expenses.
