MARGAO: Margao Municipal Council (MMC) has identified seven places for Ganesh immersion and 10 compositing units to collect the nirmalayas at the immersion places.
Chief Officer of Margao municipality, Agnelo Fernandes, the civic body has decided to place two waste bins each at the Ganesh immersion places.
The places identified by the MMC includes water bodies near Bal bhavan, near Chowgule Tali, at Ana Fonte garden, besides at Malbhat, near Shree Ram Mandir, Tolleaband, near Loyola ground at Damodar college, and in agricultural farm at Margao.
“Altogether two bins will be provided at all spots for nirmalayas and one bin for dry waste. The public are requested to cooperate and place flowers in one bin and dry waste like incense and other objects in the other bin,” said Fernandes.
He has also requested to avoid single use plastics and plastic cups, wares, etc and use patravali, cloth bags, especially naturally decomposing environment friendly objects as the Ganesh festival has great reverence to environment and nature.
The MMC requests all COVID – 19 SOPs to be observed like maintaining safe distance, avoiding crowding, use sanitisers.
The council has also appealed to all to help each other to celebrate Ganesha festival safely and with traditional religious fervor like the way it is done in Goa.
