MMC lifts tons of waste, debris near Cine Lata, St Sebastian Church

The Margao Municipal Council on Sunday lifted tons of waste and other debris dumped over the years near Cine Lata and near the St Sebastian Church, Aquem.
While municipal trucks lift around 22-truckload of debris from near the Cine Lata site, waste from Aquem was also removed and lifted away from a debris site.
An earthmoving machine was deployed near Cine Lata to remove the waste, which has been lying dumped over the years.
Margao Municipal Chairperson Savio Coutinho said accumulation of the debris had posed not just nuisance but came in the way of garbage dumping at these sites.
He said the civic body has now asked the shops and establishments to stop unauthorised persons from dumping debris at these sites.
