MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council has issued notices to the Goa Sewerage Development Corporation for releasing sewage in the storm water drains and at the same time urged the Corporation to provide sewage connections expeditiously to the housing societies.
MMC CO Siddhivinayak Naik speaking to media persons said, “Following the National Green Tribunal’s order on releasing sewage in open drains, the council has already issued notices to the housing societies and people in the market area who are found guilty.”
Further, he said, “The council will take stern action against them if not complied with.”
When pointed out that the Sewerage Development Corporation itself was guilty of releasing sewage in open drains, he said that even the corporation has been issued notice.
