VASCO: Five illegal fruit handcarts from Vasco vegetable-fruit market were removed by Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) on Wednesday morning.
MMC has rolled up its sleeves to take stringent action on the illegalities and other issues over complaints received from the locals.
MMC inspectors along with their team on the instructions of the councillors removed five illegal fruit handcarts from the vegetable-cum-fruit market.
Chairperson Nandadeep Raut along with Councillor Nilesh Navelkar and others had instructed the municipal inspectors to take strict action over those who are operating in market illegally.
Councillor Navelkar when contacted informed that until he holds the position in MMC he will not allow illegal fruit and vegetable handcarts in the market.
It may be recalled that on Tuesday, MMC chairperson along with other three councillors had inspected the vegetable and fruit market and have given instructions to the vendors to dispose garbage in the waste bins and undertake business within the permissible area without obstructing path of the locals.
