MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council (MMC) has managed to restart six CCTVs at strategic locations in the town.

However, nearly 14 CCTVs have been rendered useless on account of the disinterest on the part of the administration and MMC with regards to their maintenance.

The repair work of CCTVs has been going on for last several weeks following the murder of Swapnil Walke, a jeweller from Margao.

Two weeks ago, Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes had issued NOCs to the Electricity and IT Departments for the restarting the CCTVs. The repair work has been entrusted to the vendor, who had earlier installed them.

The work of installing another 14 CCTVs at various locations in the town is in progress.

The Margao Municipal Council Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes said, “M/s Nupur Technologies has been empanelled by the government to carry out the said works and the MMC has pledged to pay the maintenance cost”.
