MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council had to function without the Chairperson and the Chief Officer on Tuesday, even as their chambers were found locked on Tuesday.
Both Chairperson Arthur D’Silva and Chief Officer Deepali Naik along with a group of Councilors are in Mumbai attending the three-day specialised training on solid waste management.
While the Chairperson has deemed proper not to hand over the charge to his deputy Berta Cardozo, there was no replacement for the Chief Officer either as their chambers were found locked on Tuesday.
Sources in the civic body referred to a standing order wherein South Goa Additional Collector I is designated to function as the CO on condition that the incumbent MMC CO intimates the Additional Collector’s office before proceeding on official duty.
It is, however, not known when the MMC Officer had intimated the Additional Collector-I.
