MARGAO: Shadow Council for Margao strongly condemned Margao Municipal Council for its lack of interest in dealing with the problem of stray dogs in the city and leaving it entirely on the NGO carrying out the animal birth control programme.
Incidentally, the stray dog shelter before Sonsoddo was set up when Savio Coutinho was MMC Chairperson and the rent or the land is still paid by South Goa Welfare Trust for Animals who had taken the land on rent for the purpose.
Briefing media persons he lamented that MMC has not even paid the fees payable to the South Goa Welfare Trust for Animals since February and lamented that the poor workers who could not celebrate Ganesh or Dusshera may also not get to celebrate Diwali this year.
