VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council on Thursday stopped two persons who were allotted shacks from erecting the structures on Baina. MMC chief officer informed that two shacks were allotted to two persons which are subject to the further permissions from competent authorities and as they do not have those permissions, these persons were asked to stop building the structures immediately.
On Thursday morning, it came as a shocker for two persons who have got allotment of shacks by Goa Tourism department on Baina beach. MMC inspecting staff on Thursday rushed to Baina beach and immediately asked them to stop the erection of shacks.
When contacted, MMC Chief Officer Gaurish Sankhwalkar informed that shacks were allotted to these people on Baina beach, but that is subject to the receiving permissions from competent authorities.
He further stated that these two people were asked to stop the shack erection as they have not sought permission from local governing body which is Mormugao Municipal Council and therefore they were asked to stop the work until they obtain permissions from local governing body.
Later, when inquired with the councilor Murari Bandekar who was opposing bringing shacks on Baina beach, said that the information of stop work of shack erection holds the truth and that any illegal activities need to be stopped. “There is a need to take permissions to build / erect some structure from the local governing bodies otherwise nobody will adhere to local bodies,” Bandekar said.
Efforts to contact MMC Chairperson Nandadeep Raut for more details were unsuccessful.
