PANJIM: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Goa, the students wing of Congress, on Wednesday addressed a letter to President of India Ram Nath Kovind complaining about alleged ‘ragging’ of a youth, who is under the age of 18, during a college event where he was humiliated in front of a 700-odd crowd in Ponda.
The NSUI has also addressed the letter to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who holds the Education portfolio, besides sending it to the Governor of Goa and others. NSUI has demanded action against those involved in the crime.
NSUI Goa Chief Ahraz Mulla said that the incident took place during an event “Yuva Rang” held at Rajiv Kala Mandir in Ponda.
The letter mentions that the student was asked in front of the crowd, whether he watches ‘porn’ and when he refused to reply, he was humiliated.
“He was further asked to remove his T-shirt in front of the crowd and was thus humiliated with personal question mentally disturbing the under-18 child,” NSUI added.
“We request your kind authority to take this matter with seriousness and take necessary action against the organisers of Yuva Rang and investigate the entire matter thoroughly,” NSUI demanded.
