The Margao Municipal Council has threatened to slap 12 per cent penal interest on households who fails to clear their outstanding dues by way of rent and house tax by December 12, 2010.
Chief Officer Prasanna Acharya said the penal interest will be imposed on the defaulters without further notice if they fails to clear the dues within the prescribed time frame.
He said members of the public can pay the amount due to the Council within no time at the Citizens Facilitation Centre in the Civic body.
Incidentally, Acharya said the Civic body has decided to avoid serving demand notice on each and every defaulter and appealed to the defaulters to visit the Municipality on any working day and clear their outstanding dues.
