MMC urged to first discuss the issues then pass resolutions

MAPUSA: The newly formed Shadow Council for Mapusa visited the Mapusa Municipal Council to submit a memorandum to the Chairperson and Chief Officer, however since the duo were absent, the delegation handed over the memorandum to Councillor Sainath Raul, on Monday. 

In the memorandum, the Shadow Council highlighted that the newly elected council should first discuss the issues pertaining to the MMC jurisdiction and then pass resolutions on it.

The issues include giving relaxation to garbage tax and waiving of trade licence fee. 

The Shadow Council claimed the COVID-19 pandemic have badly affected the traders in town and urged the council to take necessary action on the mini-market come up by the roadside of Mapusa-Parra road, which is likely to affect the businesses operating in the municipal market.

The SCM asked the municipal council to bring down the garbage tax, which is increased by 100 per cent. 

The SCM also asked the council to take immediate action on the overflowing nullah by the side of one building at Xim-Khorlim, which is causing health problems.

The Shadow Council demanded cleaning of Tar River before Ganesh Chaturthi or the SMC along with the municipality and Bodgeshwar Xetkari Sangh will have to make alternate provision for immersion.
