VASCO: Acting on the order issued by Mormugao Municipal Council Chief Officer Santosh Kundaikar few days ago, a team of six municipal staff and inspectors on Monday carried out an encroachment clearing drive in the port town market area and cleared some overhead temporary structures of around 27 mobile handcarts.
In the morning, municipal staff along with the municipal inspectors managed to clear the overhead temporary structures of some 27 mobile handcarts which were doing business on the footpaths for many months.
The action was initiated over the order issued by the chief officer a few days back.
It may be recalled that a few days back, the Chief Officer of Margao Municipal Council Agnelo Fernandes had issued an order on December 23, 2020, to carry out the removal of encroachment on Municipal footpaths, municipal roads and the road widening area spaces within the municipal jurisdiction. A special cell of six municipal employees was ordered to undertake this drive only from January 4 and the compliance report has been asked to submit.
