PANJIM: All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) on Saturday appointed Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra as in-charge of the TMC Goa unit with immediate effect.
“TMC chairperson Mamata Banerjee is pleased to appoint Mahua Moitra (MP Krishnanagar Lok Sabha) as the State in-charge of AITC Goa with immediate effect. AITC Chairperson Mamta Banerjee looks forward to a brighter future for Goa, with All India Trinamool Congress paving the way with courage and wisdom,” said AITC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee in a press release.
Moitra had visited Goa on October 25 to release the people’s charge sheet against the misrule of previous governments for the last 20 years. During the day-long visit, she, along with party colleague MP Sougata Roy and other TMC members, had also met the family of teenager Siddhi Naik, who died in mysterious circumstances on Calangute Beach in August this year.
ITC National Vice President Luizinho Faleiro has congratulated Moitra on her appointment as the party’s in-charge for Goa unit.
“My heartfelt congratulations to @MahuaMoitra on her appointment as State in-charge of @AITC4Goa. I look forward to working together and collaborating to ensure that the issues affecting Goans are raised and heard in Goa and in Delhi. #GoenchiNavi Sakal,” Faleiro said in a tweet.
