PANJIM: Emerging from the Tiswadi Deputy Collector’s office after filing his nomination for the Panjim by-poll, Congress candidate Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate said his campaign will have a two point agenda, employment for the youth of Panjim and development of the capital city.
“We have just two and half years and I have to prove a lot and I am capable of proving. My objective is very clear and I have a two point agenda, working torwads development and employment,” said Monserrate.
He was accompanied by Leader of Opposition, Chandrakant Babu Kavalekar, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar, former chief ministers and MLAs Pratapsingh Rane and Ravi Naik, MLAs Jennifer Monserrate, Reginaldo Lourenco, Tony Rodrigues and other Congress functionaries.
In a show of strength and unity, Congress said it’s confident of forming the government in the state after May 23; the day counting of votes to the by-elections in four Assembly constituencies will be held.
All the senior leaders were unanimous in stating that the return of Monserrate into the party fold and a victory from Panjim will lead the way to formation of a new government under Congress leadership in the state.
Taking a cue from the BJP slogan of ‘achhe din’, Kavalekar said that with Monserrate there will be “barey dees” (good days) for Panjim.
“In the form of Babush, Panjim is getting good days (barey dees). The two point agenda of Babush of development and employment have remained unfulfilled despite the constituency being represented by the CM. These basic things have remained unfulfilled and if you compare the capital city to Taleigao; you will realise that good days are coming for Panjim”, he added.
