Monsoon to hit State by June 5

PANJIM: While forecasting that the monsoon may hit Goa by June 5, India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a warning to fishermen not to venture out to sea till May 31.

IMD has forecast rainfall in the State for the three days until May 30 and said there could be thunderstorms and lightning in isolated places in Goa over the weekend. 

It has also warned that strong winds with high speeds reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph are likely to prevail over the high sea, coast of Goa and surrounding coasts till May 31.

IMD has also said that the monsoon is likely to hit Kerala by May 30 and may arrive in Goa by June 5, if the conditions are conducive for its further advance.
