Mopa airport opposed

MARGAO: The proposed airport at Mopa came under strong opposition from the South Goa Zilla Panchayat body. At the last meeting of the South Goa Zilla Panchayat, members opposed government’s plan to go ahead with the construction of the Mopa airport. Members pointed out that Dabolim airport is centrally located and meet the requirements of the people of both north and south Goa. ZP Chairperson Nelly Rodrigues said that the Mopa airport was also opposed since it will spell doom for tourism activities in south Goa in the event Dabolim is shut down after the commissioning of the new airport.
