PANJIM: In a bid to promote State’s history and heritage at international platform, the Goa Government has decided to develop a mobile phone app to assist tourists in exploring the undiscovered, less-frequented monuments of the coastal State as well as plan their itinerary. The State has around 51 protected monuments including 21 in the national list.
“This is being done with the intention of promoting the monuments and their historical importance and encourages more and more tourists to visit them,” the tender document released by the department, reads.

“This will result in increased revenue collection for the Government of Goa, as well as add in promoting the rich culture, heritage and history of the state for visiting citizens from across the world,” it added.
The department has invited application for development and deployment of ioS and Android mobile app, with three years maintenance contract. The last date for submission of tender is June 17. The estimated cost of the project is over Rs 22 lakh.
The app will provide detail history of the monument, historical figures, facts and dates associated with the monument with a timeline along with photographs and citations from the history.
The app will also give a virtual tour of the entire monument and also guide on the other places of attraction and activities that one can undertake in and around the monuments. There will be two options: In the monument which will list what can be done and facilities in the monument and the second one will be around the monument that will include other monuments, beaches, restaurants, malls, entertainment centers, hospitals, police stations, etc.
