MARGAO: Former minister Mickky Pacheco has alleged that most of the present MLAs including ministers have “black money” and disproportionate assets stashed in foreign accounts, and dared the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in the State and the Centre to investigate their assets and holdings in cash and kind.
Briefing media persons, he said that MLAs including those in the ruling party, the government’s coalition partners and even in the opposition have unaccounted assets.
Commenting on the raids on Leader of Opposition Chandrakant alias Babu Kavlekar, he said the Congress was reaping what it had sown when it was in power. When the Congress ruled the State, he said, it had similarly raided MLAs including himself, who were creating discomfort to the government.
Pointing out that eight years back, even though he was supporting the then ruling Congress government in the State, he was raided four times by three government agencies of the Centre and State. “While Crime Branch conducted two raids, one raid each was undertaken by the Central Bureau of Investigations and the Income Tax,” he recalled.
“Except for the Income Tax case that is still continuing, the other agencies have exonerated me and given me a clean chit,” he said disclosing that the CBI has already filed an affidavit that they are closing the case against him while the Crime Branch had closed the case in connection with Nadia Torado against him two years back.
“I assert that politicians were involved in killing Nadia who was working for me and to save whose life I did spend some money,” he said stating that he was victimized by political parties because he represented the common people and voiced their grievances.
“MLAs who have not even been abroad today have accounts in foreign countries and the government has to investigate this,” he said quipping “is it that only Mickky can be raided and harassed?”
“Demonitisation has also been a dismal failure as it only put the common man to hardships without stopping terrorism or printing of Indian currency notes in Pakistan or unearthing black money,” he said.
