MARGAO: Congress MP Francisco Sardinha said that all the political parties should avoid giving tickets to the candidates having serious criminal cases against them. He also feels that both Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco and Moreno Rebello are not trustworthy.
Addressing media, Sardinha said people too had requested him to contest the Assembly elections from Curtorim constituency.
“What is guaranteed that Moreno will not go with BJP if elected,” said Sardinha.
“I too had an offer to contest the election from Curtorim, and even to my son Salom. People want a new face and honest leader. I have no interest in contesting the Assembly elections but the name of my son has been shortlisted,” he stated.
“We need a leader who wins and has loyalty,” said Sardinha.
The MP said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has destroyed Goa and Trinamool Congress (TMC) giving fool’s promises. Congress is the only party who can protect the State. Political parties should avoid giving tickets to the candidates having serious criminal cases against them. Having registered cases doesn’t mean he or she is the criminal. The cases need to be convicted, and also need to see the grievances of the cases.
“BJP has the habit of digging up criminal cases against the MLAs, but then they settle down those leaders once they join their party,” said Sardinha.
Taking serious note of the recent fatal accidents in South Goa Sardinha urged the government and the police department to take strict action against those drunken drivers and also to repair the roads immediately.
