MPT receives first cruise ship with 535 passengers

VASCO: The Mormugao Port Trust received the first cruise vessel of the season with 535 passengers on board.

M V Insignia, carrying passengers from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other countries besides 400 crew reached MPT cruise berth on Saturday morning and officials concerned gave warm welcome to the tourists.
According to MPT officials, the Mormugao Port authorities are making all out efforts to bring in more and more cruise vessels to Goa and during the financial year 2015-16, the Mormugao Port trust and agents have made efforts to bring in several cruise ships which would strengthen the financial position of the port. 
“MPT is expecting to receive nearly 25 cruise vessels during this financial year,” officials told Herald.
