MARGAO: Salgaocar Football Club humbled Vasco Sports Club 9-0 in the Taca Goa U-20 Football league match, at the artificial turf ground outside Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, here, on Sunday. In the first half, Salgaocar FC were leading 4-0.
Salgaocar FC opened the floodgates in the 12th minute as striker Myron Borges found Naro Hari Shrestha, who unleashed a powerful grounder for the opener.
Thereafter, Vasco SC tried to regroup but a John Fernandes move was tackled by Saurab Patil of Salgaocar FC.
In the 20th minute, Salgaocar FC scored their second goal as Myron converted a spot-kick after a rival defender handled the ball inside the danger zone.
Soon, Naro Hari secured his brace with another grounder off an assist by Myron.
The Greens enjoyed the lion’s share of ball possession and at the half hour mark, Jerson Barbosa’s rasping drive made it 4-0 off an assist by Myron.
Crossing over, Salgaocar FC continued their dominance and pumped in five more goals.
Salgaocar FC created yet another opportunity as Jerson sent in a perfect pass to Myron, who slammed in a fierce shot to bulge the rival nylons.
There was no stopping for Jerson as the latter made it 6-0 after dribbling two of Vasco SC defenders in the 47th minute.
Then, Naro Hari secured his hat-trick with a deft placement in the 52 minute while in the 62nd minute, Naro Hari secured his fourth goal of the evening with a grounder after being set up by Myron Borges.
In the 65th minute the score read 9-0 as Klins Mendes tapped in from close range off an assist by Myron Borges.
Speaking to Herald after the match, Vasco SC coach, Eban Mesquita felt his team must not be disappointed and improve in the next matches.
Coach of Salgaocar FC, Anthony Levino Pereira complimented his team for executing the game plan well after working hard in practice.
