MARGAO: A partial mud slide was reported at the Ambaji hillock at Fatorda, wherein mud from the hillock slid down, even as District Collector N D Agrawal said the authorities were closely watching the situation following incessant heavy rains and gusty winds on Wednesday.
The mud slide was noticed on Wednesday morning, which has damaged a retaining wall erected at the site. No damage to any dwelling house or trees at the site was reported. When the attention of the District Collector was drawn to the mud slide, he feigned ignorance and promised to check with the Collectorate officials.
Meanwhile, Agrawal said that though there was no incident of flooding in any part of Salcete or down south, the authorities are keeping a close vigil in view of the incessant rains throughout Wednesday. “Though there was no incident today, we are maintaining a close vigil,” he added.
Fire services personnel were on their toes throughout today responding to emergency calls of minor nature.
