CALANGUTE: The Calangute police arrested a 21-year-old, Reagan Couto, a native of Andheri East, Mumbai during a narcotic raid conducted on Friday early morning near Calangute market. He was found in possession of Charas and MDMA worth Rs 60,000.
Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi informed that he received information regarding the accused person coming near Calangute market with some drugs for delivery to prospective customers.
Accordingly, a team was formed consisting of PSI Mahesh Naik and other staff including executive magistrate; the raiding team waited at Calangute market in civil clothes. Upon seeing the accused coming to the spot, the police immediately rounded him up and detained him.
During the personal search, he was found in possession of drugs which were then tested on the spot and found to be positive for charas worth Rs 30,000 and MDMA worth Rs 30,000. The total value of all drugs found was worth Rs 60,000 in the international market.
The accused was brought to the police station and placed under arrest. An offence under Section 20(b)(ii)(A), 22(a) of the NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered.
The raid was conducted from 12.30 am to 3 am during the early morning.
