Municipal worker killed in Verna mishap

VASCO: A 32-year-old MP native and casual worker with the Margao municipality died after the pickup in which he was travelling collided into a trailer truck, at Verna on Monday.

VASCO: A 32-year-old MP native and casual worker with the Margao municipality died after the pickup in which he was travelling collided into a trailer truck, at Verna on Monday. According to Verna police, the accident occurred at around 6.30 am, when a Tata Ace pick up, while proceeding towards Margao from Verna, collided into the rear of an Ashok Leyland trailer truck near Goan Maharaja Hotel, Verna. “The co-occupant of the pickup, Anand Singh Chauhan, sustained grievous injuries and died on his way to Hospicio Hospital, Margao. The pickup driver, Mahesh Malagi (30), a resident of Comba and native of Maharashtra, had a miraculous escape,” said Head Constable Navil Fernandes. Verna police have registered offences against the pickup driver.
