PANJIM: The State government will give a grant of Rs 50 lakh and Rs 1 crore for a special project submitted by the municipal councils on the basis of its size.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant announced this after reviewing the progress of Swayampurna Goa programme for municipalities in the State.
During the meeting, Sawant asked the Directorate of Higher Education and GIPARD to take immediate measures to extend Swayampurna Goa programmes in urban areas/urban local bodies. Like village panchayats, similar grants for a special project will be made available for municipal bodies as well, ranging between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 1 crore on the basis of its size.
