PANJIM: Musical Warriors, the group that conducted campaigns like ‘Save Tiracol, Save Goa’ and ‘Save Carmona, Save Goa’ held its campaign ‘Save Amarnath, Save Goa’ at Tuem on Sunday to show solidarity with farmer Amarnath Naik, whose land has been grabbed by the government for its electronic city.
The group also paid tribute to Fr Bismark Dias, whose sudden death has shocked the entire State. The protesters also played songs that were supposed to be performed by Fr Bismark during their campaign.
Group convenor Sudeep Dalvi stated that through their musical protest, they have highlighted the serious issue of land grabbing by the Parsekar-led government in the name of development. He also accused Parsekar of ruining Naik’s life.
Dalvi, fellow musicians Kennedy Afonso, Benny Pinto, Rico Rodrigues, Belinda D’Souza, Prashila Fernandes and others demanded that the land be returned to Naik and that he be compensated for the trees destroyed on his land.
“We have sing our throats out and play our drums, violins and guitars for the fallen trees, for the gashed open breasts of mother earth, for the jackfruits rotting in the dust, for a gloomy looking lone house, for the hapless and disgusted farmer, our ‘anna data’ who is on the verge of contemplating the end to the journey of his life,” said Dalvi.
