National flag hoisted upside down in Vasco; Dy Collector orders FIR

VASCO: The national flag was on Saturday found hoisted upside down at the Deputy Collector’s office in Vasco, causing embarrassment to the officials. Taking serious cognisance of the same, the Deputy Collector and SDM Mormugao Mahadev Arundekar directed the Vasco Police Inspector to register an FIR against the police constable under Flag Code.

VASCO: The national flag was on Saturday found hoisted upside down at the Deputy Collector’s office in Vasco, causing embarrassment to the officials. Taking serious cognisance of the same, the Deputy Collector and SDM Mormugao Mahadev Arundekar directed the Vasco Police Inspector to register an FIR against the police constable under Flag Code.
According to sources, a concerned citizen from Vasco noticed that the tri-colour flying upside down and he immediately brought it to the notice of some officials. Later, the matter reached Arundekar who immediately asked the Vasco police (police staff hoist the flag at the deputy collector’s office) to immediately bring down the flag and hoist it again properly. Inquiries revealed that the police staff, who had hoisted the flag wrongly had done the same without any intention however since the incident was a grave mistake Arundekar directed the Vasco Police Inspector Nolasco Raposo to register an FIR against the police constable under violation of Flag Code and to inquire into the matter.
