PORVORIM: State Government on Thursday told the House that the National Games 2018 would be hosted as per the period recommended or accepted by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
The national games are scheduled from November 4 to 14 in Goa. However, due to its failure to complete the required infrastructure, State had last month proposed IOA to postpone the game to February 2019.
“The National Games will be hosted as per the period recommended/ acceptable by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA),” Sports Minister Manohar Azgaonkar said.
Minister said that the Government has already constructed substantial infrastructure and is in the process of constructing/ refurbishing the other required infrastructure for the 36th National Games.
He was replying to the question tabled by Congress MLA Francisco Silveria.
The proposed existing venues for the games are GMC Athletics Stadium at Bambolim, Dr. S.P.M. Stadium, Goa University, Taleigao, Multi-purpose Indoor Hall at Peddem, Tilak Maidan at Vasco, Utorda Football Ground, Nuvem, PJN Stadium at Fatorda and Multi-purpose Indoor Hall at Quepem.
