former Tourism Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar, other executive members and hundreds of workers resigned to join the Congress last weekend.
NCP Goa Chief Jose Philip D’Souza slammed D’Mello and Halarnkar for joining the Congress for their individual benefit even as he stated that both the parties are aligned.
NCP leader Avinash Bhosle recalled that this is not the first time D’Mello left the party and the leadership. He said, “In 2012, he did the same when he didn’t get a ticket for contesting the elections.”
D’Souza also hit out at Halarnkar, claiming that for the past 18 months, the latter failed to attend any executive meeting.
“It does not make a huge difference that they have quit the party. However, I wish them good luck,” he added.
Halarnkar was quoted as saying that he felt both Congress and NCP had same ideologies, but were working separately, which was giving their rivals an advantage.
