NCP Tivim Block backs Nilkant

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Tivim Block, on Sunday expressed full support to Tivim MLA and Tourism Minister Nilkant Halarnkar.
Addressing a gathering during a meeting at Salkar Hall, Colvale, ZP member Diana Braganza stated that Halarnkar is an honest person and loyal member of NCP. “He has carried out a lot of developmental works in Tivim constituency and is a social worker in the true sense of the term,” added Braganza.
“If he is asked to resign from the post of minister, people of Tivim will be forced to come on the streets and the government will have to face the consequences,” warned Braganza.
Former ZP member Freddy Fernandes said Tivim was a neglected constituency for years altogether. “It is only after Halarnkar was elected MLA of Tivim constituency, development of the village took place. Halarnkar is a sincere social worker who toiled hard for the progress of the constituency and the upliftment of the down trodden.”
“People of Tivim constituency will not keep quiet if he is asked to step down from the post of minister,” stated Fernandes.
Tivim Sarpanch Arjun Aroskar stated that the panchayat is getting good support from Halarnkar, due to which the panchayat is able to carry out developmental work in the village.
“Halarnkar has shown keen interest in development of the village and has also done a lot of work to strength the party. Tivim people will not hesitate to come on the street if he is forced to submit his resignation from the post of minister for no fault of his,” said Aroskar.
An aged woman, Indu Harakapure, while speaking literary cried on the dais and said Halarnkar is a leader of the masses and has been striving for the betterment of the common people.
“NCP should consider the service rendered by Halarnkar for the party as well to the people of Tivim and should not insist for his resignation,” said Harkapure.
The meeting was attended by ZP member Diana Braganza, former ZP member Freddy Fernandes, Covale Sarpanch Asha Chodanker, Tivim Sarpanch Arjun Aroskar, Assnora Sarpanch Pradeep Pednekar, Nadora Sarpanch Abhimanyu Gawas and Pirna Sarpanch Namrata Chodankar and about 1,500 people from Colvale and surrounding villages.
