NCP urges govt to defer public hearing on CZMP

MARGAO: Stating that people of Goa are going through a very bad phase during the COVID-19 pandemic, Nuvem Block of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) urged the State government to defer the public hearing for Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) scheduled on July 8.

NCP Block President Franky D’Mello urged that the government should fix a new date at the taluka level or to fix the hearing at the panchayat level and discuss the plan put up by the villagers.

“It is not right on the part of the government to put the lives of Goan people at risk. There is fear and anxiety in the minds of the people due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The farmers don’t have access to online registration, if registered at the venue, the farmers will not be able to travel due to the lack of public transport,” claimed Franky.

He said, “Farmers are busy these days cultivating their fields and fear in the minds of the people to participate in a public hearing, as All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and some experts predicate the third wave of COVID-19 in the first week of July”.
