Need to train more personnel to enhance swab taking team’s capacity: Health Secy

PANJIM: Health Secretary Nila Mohanan informed that the training for additional personnel is required for enhancing the capacity of the swab taking team for COVID-19 testing in case of a need in future. 

Addressing a at the SEC meeting on Tuesday, Mohanan  said all OPDs have started operating, including those at GMC.

“In these OPDs, people will be able to access normal health services,” she said adding that the Health department is simultaneously working on various immunisation programmes, various anti-malaria/dengue/chikungunya programmes, antenatal and all other regular medical services.

The SEC discussed the issue of inter-state movement of migrants. 

Kunal, the Nodal Officer, informed that the team is working on a plan to facilitate their movements. The SEC decided that the plan needs to factor in the prioritisation of distressed people as per the MHA guidelines.

South Collector informed that they are in touch with Madhya Pradesh authorities for the movement of the migrants of that State. 

He has shortlisted about 750 migrants who can be sent in the first train and added that the district is facing issues in registering the migrants on Karnataka’s portal due to Aadhaar detail requirements. 

This issue is more acute for the labourers currently housed in shelter homes as some of them either do not have their Aadhar card or are not registered.

The Nodal Officer for quarantine facilities informed that a total of 239 persons are sheltered in 11 quarantine facilities and informed that he is visiting these facilities regularly.

The DIG informed that some migrants became restive at Mapusa due to some misinformation, which has been suitably handled and added that the department officials have visited the various Railway stations and have done their assessment for the smooth handling of the incoming/outgoing passengers using special relief trains.

The SEC discussed the ongoing repair work of the approach road of Mandovi bridge (Atal Setu) which had developed some defects. 

The GSIDC informed that the repair work would be completed by May 30 to which the SEC advised the corporation to ensure timely completion of the repair work.

Excise Commissioner informed that the department was able to meet the previous year’s revenue target and added that the sanitisers production has been stabilised and there is no shortage in the local market.

Civil Supplies Secretary informed that the department has initiated action against three FPSs, who were not lifting the stock for distribution under PMGKY and added that the regular distribution of ration has picked up pace in the rest of the State.

The SEC directed the North Collector  to streamline the process of entry of vehicles at Patradevi, in view of the long waiting period at this border checkpost. The Collector informed that she is working on this to improve the efficiency of the existing process, for reducing the waiting period. 

The SEC asked the District Observers to monitor the same.

Law Secretary informed that the Registration process has picked up and the department has registered 39 documents and 32 marriages during the day. The SEC advised the department to keep the process staggered to ensure the social distancing and other safety norms.

Ports Secretary informed that the associations of barge owners have agreed to pay for the COVID-19 tests but want their crew quarantined for 14 days onboard the barges. The SEC advised him to spell out a proper SOP keeping in mind the instructions issued by the MHA in this regard.

Agriculture Secretary informed that the agricultural activities are normal. With 12 harvesters working in the fields, 88% harvesting is complete.
