PANJIM: The State-level task force on National Education Policy (NEP) will submit its report on the road map for implementation of the new policy at school education on February 26.

The State government wants to implement the policy from the Academic Year 2021-22.
Speaking to HERALD, the chairman of the task-force Subhash Shirodkar said he would be submitting the final report with recommendation on school education to the government on Friday.
Refusing to disclose any further details of the report, Shirodkar said the focus is to revamp the school education system in sync with the National Education Policy.
The committee has laid focus on infrastructure creation and to sync anganwadis and nurseries, which will become formal education from the coming year.
The task force, which had constituted sub-committees for assistance, has so far met on four occasions in September, October, December, 2020 and February, this year.
The policy has expanded the scope of foundational education, increasing the school-going years from 3 to 18 instead of the prevalent 6 to 14 years.
One of the sweeping reforms is the transition from the decades-old 10+2 format to 5+3+3+4 school structure.
The National Education Policy, which has replaced 1986 education policy, has also focused on the fact that wherever possible, the Medium of Instruction till grade 5 and preferably till grade 8 and beyond will be the mother tongue.
