MAPUSA: Nerul sarpanch Reshma Kalangutkar on Saturday informed that five new COVID positive cases have been detected in Nerul taking the tally of cases to 11.
It is learnt that one of the infected persons had returned from Karnataka and was directed to undergo home quarantine. However, instead of undergoing home quarantine, he continued his work, which may have led to the virus spread to four others.

On Saturday, the Nerul Panchayat conveyed a meeting and decided to create awareness in the village on wearing masks and practising social distancing.
Meanwhile, the villagers alleged that government has failed to control cases in the State.
