MAPUSA: A fish vendor from Nerul and conducting business in the Mapusa municipal fish market on Wednesday tested positive for COVID-19 forcing the civic body to shut the market till reports of all fish vendors are declared.
It is pertinent to note that there are over 60 fish vendors operating in the fish market. Meanwhile the Urban Health Centre has commenced tracing the contacts of the infected person and has started collecting swab samples of all the fish vendors operating in municipal fish market.
Mapusa Municipal Council chairperson Ryan Braganza said, “We have decided to keep the municipal fish market closed since a fish vendor tested COVID positive. Swab samples of all the fish vendors operating in the market will be collected and till the reports of the samples are declared, the market will remain closed. We will try to get all the reports as soon as possible”.
