MARGAO: Local councillor Shashank Desai has filed a petition in the High Court praying that Cuncolim industrial area be declared as containment zone.
Fearing mass spread of the pandemic in Cuncolim areas; Shashank said COVID cases are spreading in Cuncolim industrial areas rapidly.

“Many industrial units are coming out with positive cases. Government has not agreed to our demands even after being informed that the situation there is precarious,” Shashank said.
“We had to go to High Court as they are not listening. I hope that the judiciary will give us justice. This is the demand of 16,000 Cuncolim residents. Local transmission has started in Cuncolim. Because the affected industrial areas are not contained as the persons affected are roaming freely” said Shashank. “With the detection of 15 cases, several areas have been declared as containment zones such as Fatorpa and other places in South Goa. Our Cuncolim residents will have to celebrate Chavath in this fear,” he said.
