Nerul villagers blocked the road demanding the immediate dismantling of the mobile network tower which was erected overnight at Nerul Market. Villagers threatened to continue to keep the road blocked until authorities order the immediate dismantling of the tower.
Locals from Nerul
gathered at the location and demanded the immediate dismantling of the tower
claiming that they don’t want it in the residential or market area. Villagers alleged
that the telecom company did not take the consent of the villagers before
installing the tower and the villagers said. further threatened to protest if
the tower was not dismantled immediately. Villagers argued with the telecom
company official stating that they were misled by saying that the work of a borewell
was going on. when in reality, work of installation of the mobile tower was in
process. “Since the tower is installed near a school, it will have an adverse effect on the health of the children here.” the villagers said.
