PANJIM: The crucial meeting to decide the fate of the long-pending and much-awaited Regional Plan 2021 (RP21) – a complete land use document adhering to all requirements – will be chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday.
The State’s grandiose exercise for a suitable RP21 has been virtually in ‘draft’ stage for almost 20 years, with Goa still dependent on RP 2001 for planning.
The plan was supposed to be rectified and implemented during the last tenure of the BJP-led government.
Speaking to Herald, Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vijai Sardesai said that TCP officials would be making a presentation on the RP 21 before him and the Chief Minister on Wednesday, wherein they would chalk out further procedures to be adopted for implementation of the land plan.
The Minister is likely to put up a case for Regional Plan 2031, instead of 2021, considering that six years have already been lost since the time the plan was initially notified in 2011.
Sardesai questioned the wisdom of focusing on a regional plan that was relevant only for up to four years from now.
