VASCO: Panchayat Minister and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho on Monday informed that the work on Vaddem Lake beautification work is going on at full swing and the facility will be thrown open for public on January 15, 2018.
Speaking to reporters after reviewing the ongoing works of the Vaddem lake, he said almost 50 per cent of the works was completed.
“Out of 165-odd piles only 6 to 8 piles are remaining. The other infrastructural and beatification works does not take long. The deadline given to the contractor is January 15,” he said.
“I can assure the people that just like Joggers Park at Chicalim, Vaddem Lake also will be appreciated by everyone. Besides, arrangements for sitting, we have planned an amphitheatre facility at the lake. Also to make this commercially viable we have proposed four commercial outlets under the basement of amphitheatre,” he said, adding, the money generated from the commercial outlets would be used for maintenance of the facility.
Since the lake is located at the entrance of Vasco city, we have made plans to ensure that ‘wow’ factor exists, he informed.
Since the lake is used by locals for Ganesh immersion, we have planned to construct two permanent ramps, introduce boating facility and install a fountain too, he said.
