PANJIM: Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar said the department is planning to redesign the piling of the under-construction bridge over River Zuari.
Speaking to the media, Dhavalikar said there is a problem with the pile foundation as strata is weak and there is need to go deeper for piling.
“First pile which has been laid was 28 meters deep, second was 35 meters. Since the length of the pile inside the water is more than 40 meters, we have to redesign the pile for the stability of the bridge,” the Minister said.
He said that due to this there would be delay of 15 to 20 days for the foundation of the pile and that the work of laying the foundation will be completed in next 15 to lay foundation. “If any design procedure is required, we will see that all designs are perfect and approved by Union Ministry of Highway and Road Transport,” Dhavalikar said.
He said the bridge would be completed before the end of December 2019. “There is no problem with the superstructure of the bridge. The construction work of the bridge will not be impacted with the rains, we will try to cope up with the work and complete the construction before end of the 2019,” he said.
