MARGAO: The Margao police found an abandoned newborn near a sewage plant at Sirvodem. They are yet to establish who deserted the infant, but sources told Herald that the mother has likely been identified and that she appears to be a minor. The baby was shifted to the South Goa District Hospital, Margao. An offence under section 317 of the IPC and 8 of the Goa Children Act has been registered against unknown persons.
