PONDA: A newly constructed retaining wall at the Bethora junction collapsed yesterday raising a volley of questions about the quality of material used by the contractor. It may be recalled that the road expansion for four-lane is progressing here.
Social Worker Viraj Sapre alleged that there construction was substandard and demanded an inquiry into incident .
“It appears that the retaining wall was constructed on an old foundation. When development work is being carried out, it should benefit the future generations, but here there is waste of money. The wall was constructed just a month ago. The PWD Minister should initiate an inquiry into matter,” said Sapre.
