MARGAO: Amchem Goem Amcho Lok, an NGO, has taken strong objection to the illegal and dangerous transportation of school children beyond capacity in private vehicles.
The NGO has alleged that the illegal transport of school children in private vehicles is rampant in Margao and other areas.
NGO member Felix Dias said, “Students don’t get bus transport, hence, they are forced to use the private transport. The tired children are stuffed into small vehicles. If accident happens will anyone be able to compensate them?”
He suggested that the government could regularise the private transport by providing financial schemes. “This way the government can provide employment to the Goans,” he said.
He reminded that if there is illegality it is the job of RTO and Traffic Cell to monitor their operations.
