PANJIM: In a sudden development on Saturday, NCP State Unit President Nilkanth Halarnkar stepped down from the post claiming he is not happy with the party. He however clarified that he would continue with the party.
Speaking to a section of the media, he said he is demoralised that the party is not showing an interest in contesting elections locally. “NCP didn’t contest the Lok Sabha polls in 2014 and the recently concluded Panjim by polls. Now it doesn’t want to contest ZP elections as well,” he said.
The State unit had reportedly approached the party high command proposing to contest the ZP polls but this was turned down
