MARGAO: Nimesia Faleiro will be the Fatorda Forward candidate in Ward No 23, reserved for Scheduled Tribe women, for the Margao Municipal Council elections.
This was declared by Goa Forward President and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai who campaigned with Nimesia and their supporters in the ward, going door to door, explaining the necessity of electing the Fatorda Forward candidate.
“Since our ward is reserved for ST Women, I think Nimesia is the right candidate for Ward No 23. The previous councillor has hardly done any work in the ward, but we are sure Nimesia, who is a known face, will be a worthy councillor since she has been active with social service and is very prominent and popular within the ST community. Nimesia has a very good reputation in the farming community and anyone in Fatorda who has been involved in agriculture knows of Nimesia’s helpful nature,” said Umesh Vaz, prominent businessman and a relative of famous Konkani martyr Florian Vaz.
Kadar Shah, a resident, said that he is impressed with the candidate whom Vijai Sardesai has chosen in their ward.
“Since the ward is reserved for ST I think Vijai bab has done justice to our ward by nominating a candidate who has been selflessly active in service to the society, and knows how to go about helping people with their difficulties and solving their problems.”
“Nimesia is common figure within a lot of women self-help groups and Mahila Mandals. As a social worker, she has been very helpful, accessible and always accommodating,” said Nikhil Azgaonkar, a well-known resident of Ward No 23.
“I would like to thank our MLA Vijai Sardesai for giving me this opportunity to contest in Ward No 23. I would like to assure the people of the ward that I will be always available to help with whatever issues they have. I have chosen to contest this election to serve the people better,” said Nimesia Faleiro, who is very confident of her victory.
“I am sure the people of Ward No 23 will vote for Nimesia and get her elected as their representative,” said Vijay.
“The response we have received from our campaigning in the ward has been tremendous. It is obvious that the residents are unhappy with the incumbent councillor.”
Vijai has been getting great support from all the wards he’s been campaigning in, and Ward No 23 is no different. “Nimesia is well accepted here,” said Vijai.
