CURCHOREM: A group of nine councillors of Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council have shown preparedness to move a fresh no confidence motion against Chairperson Balkrishna (Pinty) Uttam Sinai Hodarkar, who was elected on April 1.
On Saturday, while addressing a press conference in the office of BJP, here, Jasmine Braganza, a BJP councillor from Carriamoddi Ward, said that in the event of rejection of their no confidence motion on technical ground by Director of Municipal Administration (DMA) against the chairperson, they will move another fresh motion against him.
“According to us once the Presiding Officer issues a certificate to the elected councillor for any post, it is presumed that he has taken charge and such certificate is already issued to Hodarkar. So our no confidence motion is valid and we are sure that DMA will accept our letter and direct to take up the motion,” said Braganza.
Councillors Rhucha Subhash Vasta (Khandiwada), Pramod Damu Naik (Bagwada-Shirford), Reema Alise (New ward), Yolanda Pereira (Vodlemoll), Tony Coutinho (Pongirwal), Carmelina Morais (Bethmoddi), Damodar Narcinva Bhende (Khamamoll) and Vishwas Pandu Sawant (Ghotmorad-Bansai), who had signed the no confidence motion and submitted to the Director of Municipal Administration, were present.
Speaking further Jasmine said during the last council when Hodarkar was occupying the top post, the councillors found him non-cooperative and failed to take any developmental activities and that is the reason, they do not have confidence in him.
When asked Rucha Shubash Vasta, who was elected unopposed for vice-chairperson post, said that she resigned on her own without any pressure from anyone.
Reacting to the move, Hodarkar said that let them move it number of times and he will face it till he loses it.
