MARGAO: Winds of instability have hit the village panchayat bodies in Salcete taluka with no-confidence motions being filed against two sarpanchas at Aquem-Baixo and Guirdolim.
Two no-confidence motions were tabled against sarpanchas of Aquem-Baixo and Guirdolim on Monday in the office of Salcete Block Development Office, with a plea to call a special meeting to decide on the same.
At Aquem-Baixo, six out of the nine panchayat members tabled a no-confidence motion against Sarpanch Deepa Damodar Naik.
The notice has been signed by Agnelo Francisco Dias, Amira Agnelo Rebello Morais, Floriano Pedro Antonio Fernandes, Sharon Pio Julio Quadros, Amit Khanolkar and Steven Antonio Vaz.
They have accused the sarpanch for her non-cooperative attitude in taking up developmental works and for not taking the members into confidence.
Also, six members of the Guirdolim village panchayat have tabled a no-confidence motion against sarpanch Milagres de Chandor.
The notice signed by Vincy Piexote, Ballu N, Agnelo Crasto, Sonia Dias, Maura D’Costa and Flavia D’Costa has accused the sarpanch for not taking the members into confidence.
Sources in the BDO informed that the BDO will soon convene a special meeting of the two panchayats to decide on the no-trust motions.
